History of LAPC

Lakshmi Ammal Polytechnic College, a constituent of Lakshmi Ammal Educational and Charitable Trust, M.Duraisamypuram, Nalattinputhur, Kovilpatti Taluk, Thoothukudi District, Tamilnadu, India was established in the year 1984.

The Polytechnic College is located at the industrial town of Kovilpatti, known for its matches and Textile Industries, on NH7 between Madurai and Tirunelveli at a distance of 5 Kms. from Kovilpatti.. The main  Chennai-Kanyakumari Rail line passes through the city providing round  the clock connectivity to Chennai, Bangalore, Trivandrum and Coimbatore.  The Madurai international airport and Tuticorin airport are 90 minutes drive from the Institute.

Started with 3  Diploma programmes in Engineering with an intake of 180 students in 1984, the College presently offers 5 Diploma programmes, with an  intake of 420 students. The approval of AICTE and affiliation to the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamilnadu for such a progressive intake is a standing testimony to the continuous growth of the college over the years.

LAPC has excellent infrastructural facilities, resources and well qualified and experienced faculty members.   Ours is one among the few Polytechnic Colleges to receive accreditation for three Diploma programmes from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, for the year 2011 – 2014.  Our team of well qualified staff has been successful in producing state level rank holders over the years. It provides the right climate for exposure to the latest developments and thereby gain employment in reputed Industries.

The campus has well planned Lecture halls, Laboratories, Computer centres, Library, Seminar Halls, Staff quarters, Hostels and Students’ Centres. The Campus also houses a Bank, Store, ATM, Post office  and a First Aid.
